As part of our board you will support and shape our work and strategic direction, and help us achieve our purpose to promote the love of books and reading to all ages and communities in the borough, with the aim of becoming a standing event in the Ealing cultural calendar.
What are we looking for?
* Experience of governance and compliance procedures
* Organisational ability
* Minute-taking and report writing experience, including preparation of annual reports
* Preparation of the policy register
* Experience of board evaluation and succession planning processes
What will you be doing?
* Secretary of Ealing Book Festival
* Prepare agendas in consultation with the chair, circulate them and any supporting papers in good time
* Make all arrangements for meetings (booking rooms, equipment, refreshments, accessible facilities, etc.)
* Receive agenda items from other trustees
* Check that a quorum is present
* Take minutes (or ensure they are taken) and circulate draft minutes to all trustees
* Ensure minutes are signed by the chair once approved
* Check that trustees carry out actions agreed at previous meetings
* Circulate agendas and minutes of the annual general meeting and any special or extraordinary general meetings (where required)
* Fulfilling the functions equivalent to a company secretary, assisting the chair and trustees with charity reporting requirements, monitoring the policy register
* Assist the chair with board evaluation and succession planning processes
* Sit on appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary panels as required
