Job Description
The Role
The Production Engineer will support electronics manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient and accurate conversion of customer PCB designs into production-ready documentation and processes.
The role focuses on process design, work instruction creation, production troubleshooting, and supporting surface mount technology (SMT) operations within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and document work procedures and issue detailed work instructions
* Review customer PCB design data and convert into clear production documentation
* Generate and issue pick-and-place data for SMT operations
* Design and build simple production test jigs and wiring harnesses for programming devices
* Troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues
* Fault-find and diagnose failed electronic devices
* Monitor equipment performance and resolve or escalate technical concerns
* Liaise with product designers and customers when required
* Use Gerber viewing software to review and validate PCB layouts
* Provide support and guidance on SMT pick-and-place machine setup where required
The Candidate
Previous production experience within electronics manufacturing (essential)
Strong understanding of PCB assembly processes
Ability to interpret Gerber files and SMT data
Experience with surface mount assembly processes
Exposure to SMT equipment
Understanding of electronic circuits at component level (desirable)
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability
Methodical and process-driven approach
Good communication skills
Ability to work independently and within a production team
The Salary
£40,000- £55,000 depending on skillset and experience.
