About the role
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for supporting the nursing staff, and reports to the registered nurses to ensure the safe and seamless delivery of care.
We are seeking candidates for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), who will be required to be flexible and fulfill a rotating roster.
Key responsibilities include:
6. Delivering care to patients under the supervision and direction of the registered nurse
7. Providing observation of patients and related reporting to the registered nurse
8. Responding to patient and family queries and referring to the registered nurse as required
9. Maintaining the patient environment, including bed-making
10. Maintaining patient privacy and dignity and responding to their emotional, spiritual, and cultural needs
About you
You are a compassionate and reliable PCA with a hospital background and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
To be successful, you will have:
11. Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (or equivalent qualification as outlined in the position description)
12. OR recent successful completion of the 1st year of a Diploma of Nursing, including acute/aged care placement
13. Previous experience in an acute hospital setting as a PCA or Ward Assistant
14. Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
15. A strong sense of professionalism and confidentiality
16. Valid Working with Children Check (Victoria)
17. Australian working rights or visa
