As part of the Pathways to Work (PtW) system team, the Triage Officer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the government-funded commission, which includes the South Yorkshire Economic Inactivity Trailblazer programme.
The postholder will be the first point of contact for both residents and employers and have responsibility for responding to referrals, queries or questions coming through to the dedicated phone line and email account,
The Triage Officer will engage with residents seeking support through the Pathways to Work programme, completing a registration process, which requires active listening skills as well as an ability to understand employment goals and identify key barriers they face. The Triage Officer will refer participants to the most suitable PtW delivery organisation dependent on individual needs and preferences. This personalised triage process is designed to help individuals move closer to, and ultimately into, employment through impactful signposting and efficient processes.
The ability to create and maintain records will be essential, with good organisational skills and a warm telephone manner.
Key Responsibilities
* Initial Engagement & Assessment
Communicate with individuals via telephone and online platforms to understand their aspirations, challenges, and support needs related to employment.
* Referral Coordination
Use gathered information to match residents with the most appropriate support provider, ensuring referrals are timely, accurate, and aligned with individual needs.
* Stakeholder Collaboration
Liaise with community organisations and delivery partners who initially engage participants, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring continuity of support.
* Information Management
Record and manage participant data securely and accurately, supporting programme monitoring and evaluation processes.
* Supportive Communication
Provide clear, empathetic, and professional communication to individuals seeking support, helping them feel informed and empowered throughout their journey.

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year.
