Junior Laboratory Technician
HistologiX is a trusted GLP & GCP compliant Contract Research Organisation (CRO) with expertise in tissue-based biomarker analysis. We help our clients visualise and understand how their drug or device is influencing key biomarkers at the cellular and tissue level. Working collaboratively, our experienced scientific team provides a bespoke service allowing our clients to make the most of our expertise in histology, immunohistochemistry (IHC) including multiplex immunofluorescence, in situ hybridisation (ISH) & cutting‑edge digital image and data analysis (IA).
We currently have a vacancy for a Junior Laboratory Technician to join our lab in BioCity Nottingham. The role is full time, although flexible working hours may be available. The role will be split between lab and administrative responsibilities.
This job would suit a highly organised individual with both excellent written and verbal communication skills, and with a good level of computer literacy. A scientific background is advantageous but not essential as full training will be given.
Your Main Responsibilities
* Laboratory Housekeeping: General operational duties including office, solvent and clinical waste management, cleaning, equipment maintenance/calibration/validation, keeping various logs up to date, filing, stock monitoring and expiry date checks.
* Experimental Support: Managing receipt of consumables and client samples, ensuring the correct storage locations, aliquoting and logging in our inventory management platform. Reagent preparation following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), supporting routine histology staining, label printing, cleaning slides, slide filing and performing brightfield digital scanning of microscopic tissue sections.
* Administrative Support: Stock monitoring and expiry date checks, placing purchase orders and tracking invoices, filing and answering the telephones. The management and archiving of electronic data and study documentation, data transfer and arranging couriers.
* Work collaboratively and to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
* Maintain good verbal communication with all colleagues and be able to work across a fast‑paced, multi‑disciplinary environment.
* Undertake effective business communication (e.g. emails/calls with couriers and suppliers) in a professional manner.
* Have strong organisational skills and time management with exceptional attention to detail.
* Attend, participate, and contribute to meetings and events.
* Ensure the proficient use of software including Microsoft Office, our electronic schedule, procurement platform and inventory management systems.
