Co-ordinate designated study programme delivery activities for the College, including delivery of high quality teaching, responsibility for day-to-day operational issues, exams, and timetabling, ensuring a consistent approach across sites if required. Inspire and motivate students through outstanding teaching and learning that challenges them to excel.
Lecturers should be passionate about their subject and enthusiastic about developing students' English, Maths, and employability skills. Regular target setting and progress monitoring will underpin these efforts to ensure all students achieve successful outcomes.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
The following outlines the main priorities as directed by senior management and is not exhaustive:
1. Deliver high-quality teaching: Prepare materials, schemes of work, and lesson plans; develop and implement curricula; undertake quality assurance; assess student work; monitor progress; maintain statutory safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health & safety standards.
2. Manage courses daily: Handle communication, problem-solving, timetable adjustments, cover arrangements, work experience, internal verification, and administrative tasks, ensuring cross-site compliance and consistency.
3. Recruitment and enrolment: Assist with candidate selection, manage enrolments, and organize inductions to ensure correct course registration.
4. Student support and monitoring: Conduct meetings, set SMART targets, assist with UCAS references, and support students' academic and personal needs.
5. Attendance and performance monitoring: Track attendance, results, and course performance; develop action plans where needed.
6. Promote English and Maths: Support provision through class and one-to-one sessions, monitor attendance, and facilitate student movement.
7. Participate in meetings and events: Attend staff meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, and contribute to planning and reporting.
8. Develop courses and materials: Collaborate with colleagues, engage in CPD, and mentor new lecturers.
9. Administrative duties: Mark registers, update records, produce reports, and manage VLE content.
10. Quality assurance participation: Engage in verification, moderation, course reviews, and SARs.
Additional duties for lecturers on SPS points 5–8 include internal verification, resource coordination, and liaising with higher education institutions.
