Summary:
This Network Engineering role focusses on both the support and implementation of Network infrastructures in a large multi-vendor multi-site environment for a DXC Customer. Role focus will cover primarily Campus LAN Layer 2 and Layer 3 infrastructures, both onsite and remote, with a key focus on HPE (Comware 5 & 7 devices), Cisco and Fortinet product portfolios.
Expectation is the successful candidate will have 3 to 5 years proven work experience in a challenging, multi-vendor environment working as part of a team delivering both project engineering and Network support functions and is capable of working independently in a customer facing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
1. Maintain data network hardware and systems.
2. Investigate and resolve network and hardware issues.
3. Analyze, isolate, and troubleshoot network errors.
Technical Support and Leadership:
4. Provide technical support for both internal and external customers.
5. Respond to technical inquiries and recommend solutions.
6. Assist with network problem escalation and resolution.
7. Ability to liaise with 3rd party suppliers and support organisations.
Network Installation and Configuration:
8. Install and maintain network infrastructure, including hardware, software, and system data for small to medium-sized networks.
9. Conduct network testing, maintenance, and problem resolution.
10. Perform network configurations and implement configuration changes on Switches, Firewalls and Security appliances.
Documentation and Communication:
11. Prepare network diagrams and documentation to reflect changes to the network.
12. Maintain network diagrams and documentation to reflect current Network operational status.
Mandatory Skills:
13. HPE/Cisco LAN skills equivalent to CCNA level.
14. Demonstrable experience working in a large-scale multi-vendor complex environment.
15. Experience working with large scale structured cabling infrastructures in a production / manufacturing environment.
Other Skills:
Experience working with two or more of the following: -
16. Fortinet Firewalls.
17. Configuring and managing IPSec tunnels on firewalls and routers.
18. Fortinet Security Fabric management tools (e.g FortiAnalyser, FortiManager)
19. HPE iMC Network Management platform.
20. IP Address Management
Basic Qualifications:
21. Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
22. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field.
23. Experience in data networking with Cisco or HPE Comware infrastructures.
24. Proven experience troubleshooting LAN / WAN / FW systems and technical infrastructure.
25. Knowledge of modern network systems, networking principles, and data or video communication.
26. Eligible for or currently possess SC clearance (Mandatory).
