Job Description
Version 1 is looking for an experienced consultant to join one of our major client project teams. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and supporting Database Server solutions for mid to enterprise level organisations. We are looking for an individual who enjoys a fast pace, can prioritise workload, and is eager to gain industry experience. You will have a solid background in Microsoft SQL Server technologies.
This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to progress their existing skills with a leading Microsoft Gold Partner and Oracle Platinum Partner working with cutting edge technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and supporting database server solutions, including designing solutions on‑premises and in public and private clouds.
* Managing full migration lifecycle activities: analysis, design, development, testing, user acceptance test support, and production implementation.
* Identifying and correcting performance issues, reviewing systems and error logs, managing storage, backups, job monitoring, optimisation efforts, data integrity, and resolving database contention issues.
* Handling migration of pre‑production, production, development, and system test database services.

Qualifications
* SQL Server Database Administration and Support, including demonstrable experience designing database solutions on‑premises and in public and private clouds.
* Solution design experience including inventory preparation, scoping, prerequisites, training and migration approach for migrations.
* Full migration lifecycle activities: detailed analysis, design, development, testing, user acceptance test support and production implementation.
* Experience identifying and correcting performance issues, reviewing error logs, storage management, backups, job monitoring, optimisation efforts, data integrity analysis and resolving database contention issues.
* Experience with SQL Server high availability technologies and disaster recovery methods.
* Documentation and scripting skills for database automation.
* Experience with SQL Server clustering, replication and log shipping (advantage).
* T‑SQL, SQL, SSIS, Oracle RDBMS 12c, Oracle RAC, Red Hat Linux skills would be good to have.
* Significant database experience in SQL Server environments.
