The Membrane Chromatography R&D team in Stevenage is seeking a leader for its Chemistry department to guide the development of next‑generation membrane chromatography products. The Chemistry team develops synthetic pathways and chemistry processes to modify and functionalise proprietary membranes for biotherapeutics such as monoclonal antibodies and genomic medicines, and to improve Cytiva’s Fibro chromatography products.
As part of Cytiva’s global R&D and in collaboration with other functions, the role provides leadership to a multidisciplinary team of chemists and technicians, with responsibilities spanning strategy translation, project delivery, technical input, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the development of surface chemistry and bioconjugation approaches for modifying and functionalizing Cytiva’s chromatography membranes.
* Lead the R&D Chemistry team at Cytiva Stevenage by setting objectives, conducting performance reviews, and supporting career development for all team members.
* Define and drive the chemistry roadmap for Cytiva’s membrane chromatography products in alignment with innovation and commercial objectives.
* Coordinate Chemistry development activities with other Cytiva R&D teams across functional boundaries.
* Support progression of R&D projects toward New Product Introductions (NPIs) and improvements of existing Cytiva products.
* Manage projects and stakeholder expectations to ensure alignment of defined deliverables and outcomes.
* Author and oversee technical documentation, including reports and patent filings, ensuring high standards and compliance with Cytiva QMS requirements.
* Utilize Cytiva’s QMS tools to facilitate and manage design processes.
