What you’ll be doing
As an Optometrist at Boots, you’ll play a key role in delivering brilliant patient care – using the latest tech, working alongside experienced colleagues, and supporting your community with clinical excellence. Whether you’re leading a clinic, responding to triage, or mentoring others, no two days are the same, and your growth never stops.
Key responsibilities
* Leading clinics and delivering outstanding patient care
* Using the latest testing technology to assess eye health and provide expert advice
* Providing enhanced services, from triage support to advanced assessments, depending on store needs
* Offering clinical support to colleagues on the shop floor
* Collaborating with external healthcare professionals
* Keeping your clinical knowledge up to date and sharing it with others
* Playing a key role in your store’s leadership team, bringing energy and insight to every shift
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
* We’re looking for Optometrists who are confident, compassionate, and always focused on doing the right thing for patients.
* GOC registered (or expecting to be within 6 months)
* NHS performer number (or working towards it)
* Excellent communication and organisation skills
* A genuine interest in patient care and team collaboration
It would be great if you also have
* Experience supporting enhanced services
* A strong understanding of local clinical networks

Are you an experienced Optometrist looking to join a friendly, professional and patient‑focused team? Our Dorchester Boots Opticians practice is seeking a passionate Optometrist to become part of our close‑knit store community.
This charming high street practice features one testing room alongside Hearing Care services, supported by an energetic and experienced dispensing team.
Ideally, we would like the successful candidate to be MECS accredited and confident in providing a range of local enhanced services, including post‑cataract assessments. Our patient base is largely made up of loyal, long‑standing customers who value the high standard of care we provide.
This is a full‑time position and while weekend working is required, we’re happy to discuss flexible arrangements, including alternate weekend patterns, to help you achieve a healthy work‑life balance.
