You will work within a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for a range of duties related to 18 week RTT Pathway and be responsible for scheduling patients theatre lists, You should be literate and numerate, with excellent organisational, time management and IT skills and an ability to work without supervision and to tight deadlines and under pressure. Advert This role is varied and rewarding, and may at times be challenging, however there is lots of support around you. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team supporting the team Manager and consultants, and will be responsible for scheduling of surgical theatre lists and booking of patients surgeries within National guidelines and target dates. The post holder will be expected to cross cover colleagues in times of annual leave and sickness. You will have a high standard of communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels. You will have enthusiasm, motivation and demonstrate pride in your work. Detailed job description and main responsibilities § Provides an administrative service including filing, word processing, photocopying, opening/sending out mail. Actioning incoming mail as appropriate within the waiting list office. Working on own initiative, but referring to line manager where necessary. § First point of contact for telephone enquiries from staff, patients/relatives/patients’ legal representatives, General Practitioners, Consultants and external organisations. Deals with calls in a constructive and sympathetic manner, referring to the appropriate person where necessary. § Types and distributes operating lists to relevant personnel, ie theatres, Consultants, wards, anaesthetic department, radiology etc. § Works in close liaison with Medical secretaries, Business Manager, Admin Manager, co-ordinators/practitioners, Consultants, pre-assessment department, specialist nurses, statistical waiting list office, and wards regarding patients on the inpatient waiting list. § Ensure that all patients are treated within RTT targets, (to be aware of Trust and National policies regarding cancer waiting times and waiting list targets / initiatives). § Ensure all urgent cases are booked with in the time frame specified by the Consultant § Ensure all routine patients are booked in chronological order § Ensure all diagnostic / planned / surveillance patients treated by their admit by date. § Assist in the compilation of theatre operating lists, through consultation with Consultant Surgeons/waiting list co-ordinators and pre-assessment department. § Liaise with internal and external agencies with regards to special needs/equipment for patients being admitted to hospital e.g. booking of interpreters, high dependency beds, x-ray equipment etc. § Arrange pre-assessment appointments and send out appropriate information to patients in a timely manner. § Add patients to the appropriate Consultant inpatient waiting lists, adding a referral if necessary, and liaise with the statistical waiting list office regarding removal of patients from the inpatient waiting list and other information as required by statistical waiting list office. § Assist the Admin Manager in updating the inpatient waiting lists weekly, ensuring diagnostic/urgent procedures are brought to the attention of the waiting list co-ordinators. § Ensure correct documentation/information is sent out to patients for their admissions to hospital, and that the hospital patient administration system is updated accordingly. § Ensure correct data is entered on the hospital patient administration system (EPR) and the department database daily. § Be aware of Trust and National policies regarding cancer waiting times and waiting list targets/initiatives. § The post holder may be required to demonstrate duties to new starters and support them with training. § Such duties at a comparable level of responsibility as may be allocated to the post. § The post holder will be expected to undertake any further training as necessary and be responsible for own continued self-development.
