Job Title: DevOps Engineer

What you’ll be doing:
You will be working on a large-scale Engineering engagement in a portfolio team of 80 enabling the delivery of new features, continuous improvement and the support of Critical National Infrastructure
Solution Design and Delivery
* Design Solutions: Develop secure, scalable, and efficient technical solutions tailored to meet business and operational requirements.
* Elaborate Solutions: Break down high-level solution designs into actionable and detailed deliverables for execution.
* Refine High-Level Designs: Translate abstract designs into specific, manageable deliverables aligned with project objectives.
* Plan Deliverable Releases: Strategize and manage the timeline for releasing deliverables in alignment with overall program goals.
Technical Oversight
* Review Technical Plans: Collaborate with architects to review implementation plans for changes at the program level, assessing potential impacts on existing products.
* Write Implementation Plans: Develop comprehensive technical implementation plans to guide the development and deployment process.
* Incident Management: Lead incident resolution efforts from a technical standpoint, working closely with incident management teams to ensure quick and effective resolution.
* Root Cause Analysis: Investigate incidents to identify underlying issues and implement preventative measures.
* Technical Communication: Liaise with the Release Working Group to communicate upcoming changes impacting other teams or releases.
Security and Compliance
* Collaboration with Security Teams: Ensure solutions comply with organisational security policies and proactively address security concerns.
* Support Secure Integrations: Work with other teams to facilitate secure changes with minimal disruption.
Team and Stakeholder Management
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with engineers based in Leeds and London and from other suppliers responsible for different platform components to minimise product disruptions, being part of a culture of collaboration and excellence.
* Difficult Conversations: Engage effectively with security teams to address and resolve complex or sensitive issues.
* Bridge Technology and Business: Act as a translator between business analysts and technical teams to ensure alignment and understanding.
Your skills and experiences:
* Essential Skills: Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Helm, SQL
* Desired Skills: AWS, Terraform, Docker, Groovy, Maven, Postgres
* Application Development: Design, build, and deploy applications from concept to production within tight timelines.
* Metrics and Monitoring: Build application metric exporters and maintain dashboards for performance and operational insights.
* Kubernetes Management: Develop, deploy, and manage all Kubernetes object types, ensuring optimal cluster operations.
* Vault Management: To secure sensitive information and build and manage Vault and Vault secrets.
* Clustered Solutions: Implement and oversee clustered solutions layered on existing infrastructure.
* Database Administration: Manage database operations to ensure data integrity, security, and performance.
* Proxy Management: Build and maintain secure and efficient proxies for application communication.
* Containerisation: Build and manage Docker images, ensuring they meet performance, security, and compliance standards.
* Helm Templating: Utilise Helm to template and manage Kubernetes deployments.
