Position Summary

The Key Account Sales Consultant works to improve MSC’s market position and achieve revenue and profit growth within Mid-Market customers ($200,000-$5,000,000 potential). They will manage a portfolio of $2M -$4M in annual revenue, primarily with Mid-Market customers in the penetration stage of their lifecycle. Responsibilities include building customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, negotiating and closing deals, and collaborating with internal teams to maximize revenue. The role requires leveraging account planning tools, analytics, and market research to deliver tailored insights and solutions.

Responsibilities

* Align insights to customer priorities, sharing market news and educating clients on new issues.
* Engage in two-way communication, linking customer priorities to MSC’s value proposition.
* Influence stakeholders by understanding and linking their objectives to MSC capabilities.
* Maintain deep knowledge of customer industries, market trends, and competitive landscape.
* Qualify and demonstrate the value of MSC solutions before discussing ROI/financials.
* Proactively advance purchase decisions, rally internal resources, and define next steps with customers.
* Create constructive tension by reframing customer perceptions and introducing new ideas.
* Tailor presentations and insights based on industry, company, and contact.
* Use CRM tools like Salesforce.com diligently and follow sales standards.
* Guide customers through the purchasing process, overcoming potential roadblocks.
* Identify and empower mobilizers within customer organizations.
* Research industry trends and become a trusted advisor.
* Develop and maintain relationships with multiple contacts across functional areas.
* Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to deliver relevant expertise.
* Provide documentation on cost savings and value delivered.
* Maintain accurate records in CRM and other platforms.
* Participate in professional development and team initiatives.
* Support new initiatives and handle additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial Distribution, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
* 2+ years of success in B2B sales preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce.com.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Other Requirements

* Ability to travel within assigned territory; lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required.
* Physical activities such as pushing, pulling, and bending may be necessary.

Compensation starting at $70,980 – $111,540/year, dependent on experience (base + commission).
