What you'll be doing
Lead and develop DSD's consulting project management function, shaping the strategy, behaviours, and culture that underpin high‑quality project delivery. Strengthen the consistency, reputation, and capability of project management across the business, ensuring DSD continues to grow and exceed customer expectations.
Play an active role on the Operations Board, contributing to business decisions and supporting DSD's values, strategy, and operational objectives. Work collaboratively with industry partners and internal leaders.
Provide clear leadership, direction and motivation to the project and engineering teams. Coach, mentor, and develop capability across the organisation to deliver outstanding consulting engineering outcomes.
Act as the senior voice of experience on DSD's most challenging projects—anticipating issues, resolving challenges, and enabling successful delivery through practical, innovative solutions.
Represent the interests of the business and end‑users in the development and integration of Business Systems, ensuring processes and tools are well‑designed, intuitive, and aligned with effective project delivery.
Key responsibilities
Consulting Project Management
Provide strategic leadership across all projects, ensuring alignment with commercial, technical, and operational priorities.
Drive successful outcomes across 100+ projects annually through strong governance, coaching, and oversight of Project Engineers and a focused PM team.
Own and evolve project governance frameworks, PMO toolsets, health checks, project reviews, lessons learned, and stage‑gate approaches.
Oversee financial performance of fixed‑price and T&M projects, including forecasting, margin assurance, revenue recognition, and risk mitigation.
Set and uphold high standards for project management capability, behaviours, and training across global units (UK, US, India).
Mentor Project Directors, Leads, and PMs, providing escalation support, customer‑handling guidance, and reinforcing best‑practice delivery.
Chair key governance forums (financial reviews, PD reviews, major project reviews, and executive updates).
Maintain senior customer relationships, supporting teams in complex commercial, scope, or delivery situations.
Provide portfolio‑level oversight of risks, dependencies, resourcing challenges, and cross‑project impacts.
Lead the set‑up of large or complex programmes, ensuring robust definition of roles, expectations, SOW validation, and readiness of finances, resources, and tools.
Work with team leaders on resource selection, development planning, and the professional growth of engineers in project management and consulting disciplines.
Business Systems & Programme Operations
Drive continuous improvement of project systems, templates, guidance, and processes to support DSD's growth and delivery ambitions.
Represent DSD's needs in global business systems initiatives, ensuring integration, usability, and alignment to delivery requirements.
Maintain strong cross‑business cohesion, working closely with Engineering, Sales, Finance, IT, HR, and Operations to resolve systemic gaps.
Own the business tools and workflows that support end‑to‑end programme delivery, from lead tracking through to project close‑out and archiving.
Support wider organisational transformation efforts, including AI adoption, business systems enhancement, PMO integration, and tool‑chain simplification.
Contribute to the budgeting process as required.

Act as a role model for DSD's values, professionalism, and collaborative culture.
Contribute positively to the wider team ethic and company environment.
