About You
You will be a highly organised and creative educator, capable of planning and delivering engaging, innovative lessons that inspire learners. Tracking student progress and using this to plan targeted support and interventions will be a key part of your role.
Salary and Appraisal
There are two salary scale points for Lecturer positions. All candidates start at the introductory salary scale unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers normally move up to the highest scale after completing one full academic year of teaching within the group, provided they are in post by 1 September in any given year and this is subject to approval. Internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher scale while seeking clarification.
Equal Opportunities, Diversity and Inclusion
East Kent Colleges Group is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all members of our communities. We are particularly keen to increase the diversity of our staff body and encourage applications from candidates where there is underrepresentation in our workforce. We hold the Positive About Disability Award and are a Disability Confident Employer, confirming our commitment to interview all applicants who declare a disability and meet the essential criteria. We also commit to Care Leavers, Armed Forces personnel and others as outlined in our pledges. We welcome applicants who wish to work flexibly or return to work after a career break.
Commitment to Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. All staff are aware of their responsibilities for upholding these principles. As a designated establishment, we are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore carry out checks to ensure staff suitability to work with children and vulnerable adults, including self‑declaration, enhanced DBS checks and sufficient referencing. It is a criminal offence to apply for a post involving regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Suitability will be explored as part of the interview process.
