Overview
Security Superintendent at DP World, responsible for ensuring the London Gatway Container Port and Logistics Park based in Stanford le Hope are secured to the highest standards in line with ISPS code and all relevant legislation. Lead a security team and ensure day-to-day operational security requirements are delivered while policies and plans are implemented and reviewed regularly.
Responsibilities
* Delivery of all key security operational requirements including implementation of group policy and updating security procedures related to contracted security staff when necessary
* Maintain ISPS Code compliance and other relevant security certifications (currently ISO 28000:2007, AEO, C-TPAT)
* Produce and maintain security plans covering all aspects of Port and Park operations; ensure assets are secured to the highest standards and security plans comply with ISPS code and relevant legislation
* Co-operate with security plans, training and exercises of external organisations when required
* Develop and maintain training packages to enable those trained to contribute to the London Gateway security management system; deliver packages as necessary
* Be fully conversant with security legislation applicable to DPWLG and ISO 28000 requirements to ensure ongoing compliance
* Escort MSRD/MCA inspectors, auditors and visitors as required
* Lead administration of the security management system and ensure vessel security documentation is completed and maintained correctly
* Support the Harbour Master as Deputy PFSO and maintain all aspects of the Port Security Plan, including administration, testing and exercising in line with DfT requirements
* Ensure contracted security staff perform duties to the required standard for ISPS, MSRD and the security management system
* Ensure security contracts are tendered cost-effectively
* Prepare security budget for both Port and Park
* Establish and maintain effective communications with emergency services, port security contractor and other key organisations contributing to the DPWLG security system
* Test elements of the London Gateway security system to ensure effectiveness and compliance with ISPS code, MSRD, corporate offices and ISO 28000; produce and maintain reports/records as required
* Administer issue, replacement and withdrawal of company passes and maintain the database in coordination with the Services Supervisor
* Maintain awareness of new and planned security legislation or initiatives to keep the Port prepared and compliant with operational and business objectives
* Collaborate with DPW Southampton on security planning and introduction of technologies to improve security standards
Qualifications & Skills
* Excellent security background, ideally gained within bonded or highly sensitive operations (e.g., airports, ports, military sites)
* Strong man-management experience with the ability to manage upwards and downwards
* Experience managing contracted security personnel and providers
* Must be able to be vetted to the level of CTC by MS&RD and to pass a recognised PFSO course
* Experience auditing management systems and ISO 28000:2007 requirements
* Computer literate with Microsoft Office proficiency
* Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
* Experience in report writing and presenting to senior leadership
* Experience dealing with customers and external organisations
