Housekeeper.

The closing date is 18 August 2025

The post holder is a member of the Facilities Team basedin Housekeeping and Domestic Services and will be responsible for carrying outcatering and cleaning duties based at Cheswold Park Hospital responsible toHousekeeping and Domestic Supervisors and the Housekeeping Manager. The role requires flexibility in approach tothe duties.

Posts available 1 x30 hours per week, 5 x 6 hour shifts per week on a rota basis includingweekends and bank holidays.

At the time of advertising,this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas andImmigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. For this reason, we areunable to sponsor anyone for a skilled worker visa for this role

Main duties of the job

Themain duties of the role will be to clean all areas following the NationalStandards of Cleanliness, this includes signing off sheets to confirm the workhas been completed.

Servefood, complete relevant paperwork which include food temperature checks.

Preparesmall amounts of food from the freezer.

Youwill be able to work as a team and be able to prioritise your workload.

e.Communicatewith multidisciplinary teams (nursing staff, catering, dieticians andfacilities) to ensure service users receive special diets in accordance withnutritional requirements and care plans.

f.Liaiseand communicate any menu changes and answer any queries relating to menuchanges with service users and nursing staff.

2.GeneralDuties

Toprovide a housekeeping service within ward 18 and its garden areas. Reportingand actioning discrepancies as they occur.

a.Laundryarea is kept clean

b.Clinicroom wipe down, tables, trolleys, work surfaces.

c.Tokeep courtyards maintained i.e. litter free and bins emptied. Report works thatmay need to be carried out to appropriate departments.

d.Tosupply and replenish consumables i.e. Paper towels, toilet rolls, soap etc.

e.Reportmechanical defects, pest sightings or building/environmental faults toappropriate personnel.

f.Tofollow units operational procedures for securing and locking doors.

g.Tospot clean spillages as they occur in line with Infection Control and Healthand Safety polices.

h.Childvisiting room kept clean and tidy.

i.Cleankeyboards

3.Dining,Kitchen area & Kitchenette

a.Keepthe Service users Kitchen area clean and stocked.

b.Cleaningof kitchen surfaces.

c.Ensureitems in service users fridge is stored in accordance with trust policy.

d.Checkservice users fridge temperature.

e.Dampmopping of kitchen floor. Spot mop spillages.

f.Monitor and advise patients on healthy eatingoptions where required.

g.Distributessnacks to service users

4.SanitaryFittings

a.Cleaningcommodes, shower chair, and assisted bathroom hoists.

b.Keepsluice areas clean

c.Whenrequired replenish supplies of paper towels, toilet rolls and soap.

5. Bedrooms

aReset safes

b. Ensure name plates on bedroomdoors.

c. Ensure information packs are inall bedrooms

c. To build a good therapeutic relationshipwith service users, in order to encourage and assist them, in taking care oftheir own living space.

d. Be available to open patientsbed rooms doors

e. Spot clean as required.

f. Alert nurse in charge to anyfood item found, which contravenes units banned and dangerous itemspolicy.

6. Property

a. Organise, monitor and tidinessof patients property cupboard

b. Assist with auditing andmonitoring patient property sheets and disclaimer forms

c. Assist service users with anylaundry requirements and use of laundry equipment

7 WeeklyDuties

a.X2Weekly conduct required flush regime

b.Checkcupboards are clean dust free

c.Cleanmicrowaves and fridges

d.Checkchairs / furniture for wear and tares

Person Specification


Experience

* Previous experience of working in a demanding work environment
* Previous experience of working in an industrial cleaning and/or catering environment
* Experience within a customer care/or a patient focused environment


Training.

* Commitment to undertaking relevant training commensurate to the job role

Qualifications

* Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety or willing to undertake and successfully complete within 12 months * (can be obtained through SWYPFT)
* Basic literacy and numeric skills
