Overview
Our Corporate Tax specialists within the EY Private and Mid‑market team work with a wide range of businesses (including OMBs, multi‑generational family businesses, PE‑backed and AIM‑listed) at various stages of the business life cycle (i.e. from start‑up right through to established multinational). Our work is a combination of both tax advisory and compliance, including tax advice in respect of matters such as M&A structuring, exit planning, group re‑organisations, expansion into overseas territories and much more. Most importantly, you will be responsible for building and maintaining trusted relationships with clients and ensuring in your role as their day‑to‑day contact that they have access to the breadth of services available to them at EY.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain relationships with clients
* Proactive business development to add value to existing and new clients
* Manage the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and a practical, business‑driven approach
* Provide development support to junior members of the team through effective supervision, coaching and mentoring
* Contribute to people initiatives including retaining and training the team
* Be client‑driven and strategically and commercially aware
* Apply strong Corporate Tax technical skills
* Deliver high‑quality outputs to clients with strong client‑relationship management skills
* Negotiate effectively, sustaining opinions and handling challenges
* Identify and convert business‑development opportunities to sell work
* Manage time effectively, remaining calm under pressure to meet deadlines
* Communicate excellently in written and oral formats across a range of situations
* Advising a range of companies including listed, PE‑backed, family‑owned and OMB clients
Key Qualifications
* ACA / CA / CTA / Tax Inspector with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification / or equivalent breadth of knowledge
* Strong tax technical skills
* Business‑development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to generate new work
* Experience of coaching and developing junior staff
Preferred Skills
* Project‑management skills to plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, and monitor own budgets
* Creative and pragmatic problem‑solving, recognising both the tax technical and commercial implications of advice given
