Teaching Assistant – SEND College (Autism Specialist)

Location: Newton‑Le‑Willows (WA12)

Start Date: Late June / Early July 2026 | Contract Type: Full‑time | Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm

Help Young People Build Skills for Life

Axcis Education is recruiting for a specialist SEND college in Newton‑Le‑Willows, supporting students aged 16‑25 with autism and additional learning needs. Starting in late June / early July 2026, this rewarding role involves supporting young adults as they develop independence, employability, and life skills through both classroom‑based and practical learning experiences.


The Role

* Support students with autism in classroom and vocational settings
* Encourage independence, communication, and social development
* Assist with life skills, employability, and enterprise activities
* Adapt support to meet individual EHCP outcomes
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
* Work closely with tutors, therapists, and support staff

Students regularly take part in practical activities such as running a student‑led café, outdoor projects, and employability‑based learning.


What We’re Looking For

* Experience supporting young people with autism and/or additional needs
* A calm, patient, and supportive approach
* An interest in practical and vocational learning
* Confidence working 1:1 and with small groups
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
