About the role
Balfour Beatty has a fantastic opportunity for a Land Access Manager to join the Power Transmission & Distribution team based in the North of Scotland. The role involves arranging third-party consents and submitting formal applications according to the project programme and team requirements.
* Location: Elgin Project office, covering land parcels from Nairn to Elgin
This may include road and footpath closures with local authorities, planning applications for access routes off the public highway, applications to the Rivers and Canals Trust, etc.
The role requires communication with clients to secure access agreements, understand Grantor details, and meet specific requirements. Daily communication with the client and project team is essential to coordinate access to Grantor property and keep all parties informed of activities.
Responsibilities include preparing weekly schedules of grantor concerns, documenting site conditions via photographs/videos before and after access, and maintaining accurate records.
What you'll be doing
* Liaising with client Wayleave Officers, visiting sites with engineers and foremen to confirm land take areas and access routes, discussing delivery methods, damage prevention, and clearance requirements.
* Identifying and marking services using drawings, markers, third-party info, and ground scanning techniques.
* Engaging with local authorities, highways agencies, police, etc., for road/footpath closures or restrictions.
* Handling daily issues related to Grantors and access routes in coordination with the client Wayleave Officer.
* Establishing procedures to communicate changes in access routes (e.g., red dot system).
* Controlling access maps to ensure only current drawings are used.
* Reviewing method statements and risk assessments related to Wayleave activities.
* Updating location boards daily and conducting safety checks with site teams.
Who we're looking for
* Knowledge and experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills (essential).
* Understanding of civil engineering and excavation works (beneficial).
* Experience with underground/overhead utilities (beneficial).
* Knowledge of traffic management legislation (beneficial).
* Ability to work as part of a team (essential).
* Full driving license (essential).
