We are seeking a nurturing and passionate teacher to join a specialist primary SEN provision in County Durham. This is a unique opportunity for a mainstream class teacher who is ready to take an exciting step into the world of specialist education. You do not need to be a qualified SEN teacher—just someone with the heart, curiosity, and resilience to learn. This role is perfect for someone who sees behaviour as communication and understands that vulnerable children need connection before curriculum. You will work with pupils with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs, autism, communication difficulties, and learning challenges. Key responsibilities include: Delivering engaging, personalised learning experiences Supporting pupils with complex emotional and behavioural needs Creating a calm, predictable, and nurturing classroom environment Working closely with therapists, support staff, and families Using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support regulation and learning We are looking for a teacher who is patient, warm, and emotionally intelligent, with the confidence to support children who may present challenging behaviours.
