We are working closely alongside a local authority in Caerphilly to assist with the appointment of a Social Worker on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client’s discretion. The Social Worker plays a vital role in delivering high-quality services to children and families based on assessed needs and statutory requirements. Working within the Children’s Services division, you will be responsible for safeguarding the welfare of young people, managing outcome‑focused intervention plans, and representing the authority in legal proceedings. Whether working in a locality team or the Fostering Team, the goal is to provide professional, evidence‑based support that ensures children can thrive in safe, stable environments.
* Represent the Service at Court and Panel meetings, providing high‑quality written reports, statements, and verbal evidence.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of need in accordance with Directorate policies and national frameworks like Working Together to Safeguard Children.
* Provide statutory supervision and support to foster carers, including regular home visits and formal reviews.
* Commit to ongoing personal development and maintain registration with Social Care Wales.
* Diploma or Degree in Social Work (or recognised predecessor).
* Proven experience working with children, young people, and their families/carers.
* Experience in Child Protection work and navigating Care Proceedings.
* Up-to-date knowledge of current legislation, research, and practice issues in childcare.
* For those qualified after 1 April 2016: Completion of (or commitment to complete) the CPEL within the first three years of practice.
* A full UK Category B driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
