Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be working with other Band 6 and 7 MRI specialist Radiographers, MRI Trained Rotational radiographers, and Radiographic Assistants to deliver an extended hours 7‑day service in the MRI Department at the Royal Free. They will use specialised knowledge and expertise to produce high quality images to assist in diagnosis and treatment, while demonstrating high standards of care.
The post-holder will ensure patient flow in the Trust by actively managing the flow of emergency and inpatient workload. They will be expected to carry out protocolling of MRI requests, checking of conditional devices and aid in the booking of complex cases.
The department actively encourages continued professional development (CPD), and opportunities are available for further training and development, in areas such as post‑graduate study, radiographer reporting and advanced practice.
Person Specification
* Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values
* DCR (R) or BSc Diagnostic Radiography
* HCPC registration
* Clinical MRI experience
* NHS Experience
* Experience in a diverse range of radiographic techniques
* Experience in specialised imaging techniques such as CT, Interventional Radiology/Cardiology
* Experience using PACS and RIS and an understanding of its significance for good service management and patient care
* Experience dealing with a diverse range of patient presentations
* Ability to work independently and also within a team
* Ability to prioritise and organise demands and multi‑task.
* Willing to take direction and learn from more experienced colleagues
* Demonstrate a sound understanding of MRI Safety Principles for patients and staff
* Demonstrate a sound understanding of cross‑sectional anatomy
* Keen interest and understanding of a range of current and future imaging techniques and practices
* Demonstrate a respect for and commitment to patient care and safety
* A commitment to CPD
* Supportive of and adherence to management protocols, policies and operational change
* Ability to liaise with patients and their relatives or carers using empathy and tact
* Ability to approach disputes and disagreements in a calm and objective manner
* Willing to train and share knowledge with more junior and new members of staff

* IV Cannulation Certificate
* Post‑graduate (Radiography) Qualification
* Experience of performing Quality Assurance tests and management of a robust QA programme
