About the role As the Assistant Buyer for Newspapers and Magazines, you’ll take ownership of our Magazine promotional space, ensuring it delivers great value for customers while maximising commercial income. You’ll support the smooth running of the department by preparing reports and analysis for the Manager, while staying close to customer needs, market trends and competitor activity. You’ll also play a key part in sourcing products for our collectible ranges, such as football stickers and trading cards. You will be responsible for • Achievement of Commercial Income targets • Developing and managing our Magazine promotional space for the benefit of customers whilst maximising commercial income from publishers • Owning our day to day working relationship and operation with our Magazine Distributors (In the main 2 large companies) • Agreement with suppliers and Implementation of Magazine promotions in store, including gathering feedback and insight for the review process • Reporting Magazine performance and overseeing resulting action from that reporting • Overseeing of new product selection for the core magazine range • Leading and managing of our collectables range. For example - Football Stickers and Trading cards • Owning the timely and accurate loading and oversight of our category commercial deals • Working with suppliers and technical team to ensure product quality is achieved and maintained on our range of Own Label Magazines You will need Operational skills relevant for this job: • Microsoft Excel skills • Basic negotiation skills Experience relevant for this job: Building and maintaining a broad and complex set of business relationships Working with short lead times and tight deadlines What’s in it for you We’re all about the little helps.
