The Volkswagen Group UK National Learning Centre is the UK’s largest automotive training facility. Located in Milton Keynes, the centre is home to the Group’s training operations, developing our base of 26,000 retailer learners in the UK.Calex is the supplier of learning services, working in partnership with Volkswagen Group UK.
The role:
We are looking for a Data & Reporting Team Manager who is an expert in their field of Data Architecture / Data Science, with a proven record of delivering innovative solutions in a fast paced environment, a meticulous level of attention to detail and passion for creating robust, user centric data and reporting environments. This role will report directly to the Learning Operations Manager and manage a team of Data Engineers / Analysts.

Main tasks and responsibilities:
Data / Reporting / Business Intelligence (BI):
* Develop and manage BI tools and dashboards to support organisational performance tracking, KPIs, and strategic goals
* Manage the data governance strategy to ensure high-quality, consistent, and secure data practices
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify BI needs and ensure delivery of relevant insights
* Act as a strategic advisor to senior managers on matters related to data strategy, educational impact, and business performance
* Design and maintain scalable data models and warehouse structures
* Full ownership of the end-to-end life cycle of all reports and data, including receiving briefs, developing, delivering and maintaining a full suite of BI products
* Establish and maintain a comprehensive cadence of stakeholder communication
Team Management
* Manage and motivate a small team consisting of a Senior Data Engineer and two Data Analysts
* Foster a culture of data literacy across the organisation through training and advocacy
* You will carry out regular one-to-ones, performance appraisals, coaching, mentoring and development according to individual training needs
Person Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Education Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
* 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or learning analytics
* 3+ years of experience Managing a Data & Reporting Team
* 3+ years of experience in stakeholder management
* Evidence of recent continuous professional development completion, demonstrating you are committed to enhancing your technical proficiency to maintain up to date knowledge of data and reporting best practices
* Able to demonstrate how you stay informed about the latest data and reporting trends and innovations, ensuring you remain current with the rapidly evolving landscape
* Proficient with Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and data platforms (e.g., SQL, Snowflake, Google BigQuery)
* Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and education data standards (e.g., xAPI, LTI, SCORM)
* Strong analytical mindset with the ability to communicate complex insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders
* An effective communicator, with the ability to influence, negotiate and present at senior management level
* Familiarity with statistical and predictive modelling tools (e.g., R, Python)
* Experience in an education, EdTech, or training-focused organisation would be advantageous
* Project management certification (e.g., PMP, Agile) is an advantage
* Experience in designing and implementing data pipelines
* Experience of working with various data storage technologies and integrating data from different sources
Proficient in coding languages such as:
* SQL
* DAX
* M-code
* MySQL
* Basic Json
* SQL Database Schema and security
* Experience with database schemas and security
Extensive experience of working with:
* Azure Data Factory – Pipelines, Data Flows and Sink
* Azure Generation 2 Data Lake and Data Blobs

Salary & Benefits
Up to £60,000 pa dependent on experience.

Employment
The successful candidate will be employed by Calex UK (www.calexuk.com). Calex are a specialist automotive training provider and provide training staff and expertise including Trainers, Developers, Digital Learning Experts, and Administrators to Volkswagen Group UK. The successful candidate will join an established team, at the VWG National Learning Centre in Milton Keynes.

Place of Work
VWG National Learning Centre, Wymbush, Milton Keynes.
We currently operate hybrid working with at least 60% of time in the National Learning Centre with the opportunity to work up to 40% remotely. Time spent in the office may change.
There will also be times when it may be necessary to work from alternative locations, e.g. VWG facilities and retailers, and other sites as necessary to perform the role.
