Production Manager – Readymix
Location: West Midlands – Walsall Readymix site.
We are recruiting a Production Manager to lead production across multiple Readymix plants, supporting the Readymix Operations Manager to deliver a sustainable, high‑performing business aligned to national initiatives and excellence programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing Health & Safety performance, driving continuous improvement.
* Embedding operational strategies with focus on safety, cost, profitability, quality, people and customer service.
* Meeting and exceeding budgetary targets and optimising CAPEX performance.
* Ensuring cost‑control discipline across the Readymix business.
* Driving the operational strategy and achieving all key KPI targets.
* Leading optimisation programmes across automation, cement reduction, overstrength, SD, material packages and cost efficiency.
* Ensuring efficiency and compliance with SOx requirements.
* Managing CAPEX projects with estates and engineering teams.
* Supporting the commercial team in securing major contracts.
* Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships, exceeding expectations through efficient operational processes.
The Ideal Candidate
* Proven operational & leadership experience in Readymix or a related sector.
* Strong understanding of Readymix plant operations and capabilities.
* Demonstrated strong health, safety and environmental leadership.
* Strong understanding of the construction materials sector.
* Experience managing operational teams in a similar environment.
* Excellent financial acumen through cost control and budgeting.
* Results‑driven leadership capability.
* Experience in forward planning, analysis and risk identification.
* Ability to influence stakeholders across multifunctional teams.
* Experience in operational optimisation.
* Decision‑making, conflict management and trust‑building skills.
* Resilience and adaptability.
* Recognised Concrete Production qualification (e.g., UoD, Concrete Society) – CPD‑maintained membership an advantage.
* Health & safety leadership qualification (SHE Level 4/6) – an advantage.
* Working knowledge of Excel, SAP, Nimrod and Command / BPL.
