Finance Manager

A growing and fast-paced manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day finance operations and lead a transactional accounting team.
This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, efficient processes, and effective cross-functional support across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee daily accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll accounting, fixed assets and general ledger
2. Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, including journals and reconciliations
3. Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure strong documentation and audit readiness
4. Lead statutory accounts and tax preparation
5. Oversee costing processes, standard costing updates and BOM reviews
6. Improve accounting workflows to support high transaction volumes and business growth
7. Strengthen internal controls and support internal audit initiatives
8. Manage treasury activities including cashflow forecasting and banking relationships
9. Review UK VAT returns and payroll reconciliations
10. Support insurance renewals and act as a key finance contact across the business
Requirements
11. Professional qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
12. Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar
13. 5+ years' experience in accounting operations or financial management
14. Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
15. Strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills
16. Experience in manufacturing, aerospace or defence environments advantageous
17. Knowledge of statutory reporting (IFRS / US GAAP) and tax controls desirable
18. Confident user of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
