The Governors of Cookley Sebright Primary School are seeking a dedicated and proactive Caretaker to ensure our school premises are safe, secure, and well-maintained. This important role involves conducting routine maintenance and site security. The successful candidate will work closely with the School Business Manager and play a key role in the daily operations of our school. Cookley Sebright Primary School is a one-form entry primary school, set in the heart of the village of Cookley, near Kidderminster with good access links to the surrounding areas via the A449. Main purpose This role is pivotal in our school as you will be supporting the school business manager with Health & Safety and Compliance tasks, while carrying out routine and general cleaning and maintenance of the school grounds. As part of the role, you will be required to provide excellent practical skills to keep school clean, tidy and safe. This role reports to the School Business Manager. The successful candidate will be required to work between 15 and 20 hours per week (negotiable on appointment) across a split shift, between the hours of 7am - 6pm each weekday. Some holiday and evening opening hours will be required (by negotiation). Responsibilities of this post include: Maintaining the safety and security of the site, its premises and contents with support from the school business manager Acting as key holder, attending callouts and supervising access to the site outside normal working hours when required Opening and securing the site each day. Daily routine inspections, minor repairs, and liaising with contractors. Ensuring compliance with regulations like COSHH and Legionella. Setting up for school events. Post-holder attributes: Positive, enthusiastic, with a ‘can do’ flexible approach and keen to work as part of a busy and dynamic school. True team player – flexible and proactive. Knowledge of the requirements of relevant Health and Safety legislation e.g. Fire Safety, COSHH, control of Legionella, PAT testing, Manual Handling, Asbestos and other safety related tasks.
