Salary range - Salary range for this role is £45,500 to £68,300 per annum plus monthly Additional Responsibility Allowance
Contract type - For external candidates this will be a Fixed-Term Contract for 6 months. For Internal Partners this will be a 6 month Secondment
Work Pattern - 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday core hours, an expectation to be on call Out of Hours including weekends on a rotation basis

About the role
This key role supports the 8 vehicle workshops and 130 technical specialists responsible for maintenance of the commercial vehicle and car fleets, comprising over 5000 vehicles and a c£30M annual spend. It builds and maintains a data and KPI based process to lower costs, higher standards and improved productivity and engagement. It also builds and maintains a career development framework to increase skills, prepare for changes such as EVs and better attract and retain skilled candidates.
Key Responsibilities
* Gathering KPI data and compilation of monthly KPI reports for all workshops and external maintenance. Collating and follow-up of resulting actions with Maintenance Managers and reporting of these to Fleet Maintenance Manager.
* Analysing maintenance data to identify high spend areas, anomalies, regular repairs etc and propose corrective actions
* Oversight and reporting of warranty claims. Management of generic claims with manufacturers including financial compensation for loss of use
* Oversight of Workshop Management System data, identifying sub-optimal data and educating users to correct.
* Creation and management of a development system for Maintenance Partners, including management of Apprentice training, technical and management training, individual KPIs and incentives:-
o Management and development of a technical training programme to deliver skills and accredited qualifications in manufacturer specific, skill specific (ie electronic diagnosis, welding) and fuel specific areas.
o Creation and management of Multi-skilled Technician and Master Technician roles and the associated development programme.
o Creation and management of management development pathways including provision of specialist training
o Working with Workshop Managers to create and manage of skills matrices and development programmes for all Maintenance Partners
* Working with Resourcing to attract and retain Partners through optimising pay and other benefits.
* Management and selection training providers, acquisition of funding for training and seeking opportunities for training subsidy.
* Networking with local schools and other potential sources of candidates
* Chairing of Local Voice meeting and assisting in promoting Engagement and Democratic Vitality
* Maintaining a social media presence to promote engage with and attract candidates
* Management of National Workshop Parts Compliance Parts Manager with oversight of national parts agreements inventory control, workshop compliance and safety and PPE specification and procurement.
* Monitoring workshop equipment condition and requirements and acquiring capital funds and budgets where needed, managing maintenance, renewal and new projects such as MOT stations.
* Managing regular workshop audits and self audits for safety, compliance, condition and productivity. Follow-up of audit action plans
* Creation of a quarterly newsletter for Maintenance Partners
Essential skills you’ll need
* Sufficient experience of commercial vehicle fleet maintenance
* Knowledge of O Licence regulations for Commercial Vehicle Maintenance to ensure compliance
Desirable skills
* Data analysis qualification
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Technician
* Engineering qualification such as IEng
* Management CPC
