Investment Manager
Finance and Currency Operations Department
The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the services of a skilled and capable individual to work as an Investment Manager in our Finance and Currency Operations Department. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Investment Manager will be responsible for assisting in managing the Authority's investment portfolios as per the Authority's BMA Investment Policy; assisting in developing investment strategies and policies; and supporting the Board's Investment sub-committee, as required. This will include the preparation of management accounts with variances and analysis on a rotational basis.
This is a key role for the Authority and the postholder will be responsible for but not limited to:
* Preparing monthly financial statements, including variance analysis, notes and binders on a rotational basis
* Preparing and reviewing investment-related disclosures in the annual audited financial statements
* Managing investment portfolios as per the BMA Investment Policy, including being the primary contact for the Authority's investment managers, brokers, dealers and custodians
* Providing monthly reports, including recommendations for buying and selling securities in accordance with the BMA Investment Policy and Investment Compliance Matrix
* Attending the Investment Committee meetings and providing reports, as required, to enable the Committee to monitor the financial implications of the Investment Manager's activities and confirm that the transactions are conducted in accordance with the Authority's Investment Policy guidelines
* Reviewing and updating the BMA Investment Policy, as appropriate, for the Investment Committee
* Transacting investment business on behalf of the Authority in accordance with the BMA Investment Policy
* Ensuring timely settlement of investment trades in coordination with the BMA Finance Receivable
* Ensuring that the provisions of the BMA Act relevant to the External Reserve are always met
* Developing reports for the investment committee and coordinating BMA investments reporting requirements with the external investment manager and custodian
* Coordinating with the external investment manager and custodian to ensure the BMA Finance Receivables Team receives reports on a timely basis to meet agreed financial reporting deadlines
* Managing fixed assets accounting and reconciliation, ensuring accurate maintenance and updates to the fixed asset register, compliance with accounting standards, timely capitalisation, depreciation and disposal of assets
* Acting as a key contact for the internal and external auditors for investments and fixed assets and reviewing and preparing supporting investment and fixed asset schedules and related disclosures for the Auditor General in relation to the Authority's annual audit
* Prepare information as necessary for the Audit Committee and ensure timely follow-up to Audit points
* Assisting with the preparation and supervision of the annual budget and forecasting for BMA investments and fixed assets
* Performing other related work and special projects as assigned by management in accordance with competencies normally associated with this post
This position requires a proven technical and business background, therefore, the postholder must have:
* A master's degree in investment management, finance, business administration or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution with an accounting designation (i.e., CA, CPA or equivalent) and an investment portfolio designation (i.e., CFA) or be a CFA, Level III candidate
* A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the financial services industry and/or with a financial regulatory body, of which at least five (5) years should be at a senior level
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite of products and preferably a working knowledge of Great Plains
* Good oral and written communication skills, in addition to excellent organisational skills
* The ability to work independently and perform well under strict deadlines, as well as the ability to work well as part of a small team responsible for handling sensitive information
