Current experience of managing a Team is essential. The successful candidate will excel in communication with all stakeholders, including patients and both clinical and non-clinical colleagues. They will prioritise a patient-centred approach and effectively share responsibilities with physiologist peers. They will foster professional development and team cohesion while successfully establishing and maintaining collaborations with external stakeholders. We seek a highly motivated individual who possesses a passion for cardiac ultrasound and exemplifies excellence in performing high-quality echocardiograms. The candidate will be experienced in various echocardiographic modalities, including transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) and will have worked in diverse clinical settings. This role involves leading and managing several operational aspects of the Echo service across ABUHB, representing the Echo Physiologist team at the Cardiology Directorate level and contributing to the strategic development of the ABUHB Echo service. A Clinical Physiology BSc degree, along with relevant technical training and accreditation in Echocardiography (such as BSE, EACVI, or an equivalent), is mandatory for this role. Additionally, candidates must possess significant work experience following their accreditation. Advert To lead the Echo Cardiac Physiology workforce across Aneurin Bevan Health Board sites. To work autonomously as the lead physiologist in echocardiography. To lead the echocardiography area of Cardiac Physiology services. To plan and be responsible for Echo service development, ensuring provision of evidence based patient care, effective and efficient management of resources, staff development and education. To undertake a range of advanced diagnostic tests. To undertake, supervise and teach highly complex cardiac clinical physiology procedures working to the standard set by the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE), Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (SCST), British Cardiac Society (BCS) and also the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS). To provide leadership and direction for the cardiac physiology service within the Echocardiography Department. The Grange University Hospital will be the main base for this role but the candidate will be expected to partake in a rotation across all ABUHB sites. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a solid foundation of previous managerial experience and leading a team. We use state-of-the-art Echo machines, software and methods across four primary hospital locations, along with additional clinics at various local hospital sites. Our team successfully operates several specialised services, including a Physiologist-led Valve service, Physiologist-led Stress Echocardiography service, bubble and LVO clinics, as well as ACHD echo clinics. The Echo Physiologist team benefits from the expertise of six experienced Consultant Cardiologists who perform a range of echocardiographic procedures, including TTE, TOE, physiological and dobutamine stress echocardiography, alongside in-house proficiency in cCT, cMRI, and MIBI. We have a dedicated senior Echo Education Physiologist and a weekly Friday morning Imaging Teaching/MDT, contributed to by Physiologists. We offer a robust in-house PCI service and are set to launch our Impella program, collaborating with the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff providing cardiac surgery and structural interventions. This partnership also includes support from colleagues in electrophysiology, GUCH, and cardio-genetics. Our CRM team specialises in anti-brady pacing and complex devices, such as bi-ventricular pacing. Additionally, we have an award-winning heart failure nursing service, an effective cardiac rehabilitation program, dedicated nursing support for cardiology research and a specialised cardiology IT team.
