About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assessor – Medicine to join our academic team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and assessing learners enrolled on medicine-related access courses and preparing them for progression to higher education or medical-related careers. You will provide high-quality assessment, feedback, and guidance to ensure learners meet awarding body and organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess learners' work in medicine-related subjects (including biology, chemistry, and physics) in line with awarding body requirements.
* Provide constructive feedback and developmental guidance to support learner progress.
* Track learner achievements and maintain accurate records in line with internal and external quality assurance requirements.
* Support learners in understanding complex medical and scientific concepts.
* Participate in standardisation and quality assurance processes to maintain assessment consistency.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the learner experience and outcomes.
Essential Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following qualification requirements:
* A recognised Medical Degree (Doctor), OR
* A Levels in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, OR
* Access to Higher Education Diploma in Medicine (or equivalent).
In addition:
* Strong subject knowledge in biology, chemistry, and physics.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience in teaching, tutoring, or assessing (training will be provided if required).
* Ability to provide clear, supportive, and developmental feedback.
Desirable Requirements
* Assessor qualification (e.g., Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement – CAVA) or willingness to work towards this.
* Experience in an educational or healthcare training environment.
* Familiarity with awarding body requirements and internal quality assurance processes.
