We are seeking specialist SEN teachers who can provide advice, support and guidance for children and young people with SEND in their early years settings, schools and their home environments.

We wish to fill a 0.8 vacancy. This job is ideal for job-share. Please state the preferred amount of time you wish to work from 0.4 FTE to 0.8 FTE clearly at the top of your personal statement. There may also be the possibility of the role being extended to full time at a later date.

About the role

Expertise and experience of supporting children with SEND in the early years is essential. BHISS is based in Portslade Village, but the majority of time is spent visiting schools across the city in an advisory teacher role. A car is NOT essential.

Please read our Apply for a job at the council pages carefully. They give you all the guidance you need to complete your application as well as information on what will happen after you've submitted your application and at interview.

As part of your application, you will need to upload your Application Form and a supporting statement. Your supporting statement is the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Application Form guidance (brighton-) and (Supporting statement guidance (brighton-) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
