Location and Salary
Location: The Angel Centre SARC, Northumbria
Additional Locations: Regional at the Durham and Teesside sites
Salary: £43,443.05 FTE based on 40 hours per week
Hourly rate: £20.83
Shift Pattern
1 a.m. – 9 a.m., 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., 5 p.m. – 1 a.m., 5–1 and 1–9
Shifts will be on call and include weekend 9–5 shifts unless required on site (monthly deep cleans, training, etc.).
Main Duties
* Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
* Develop forensic strategies in accordance with FFLM guidelines.
* Actively work in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
* First point of contact for victims, Police, and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
* Manage and promote the self‑referral pathway.
* Undertake holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
* Support the continued quality improvement of the service.
* Work under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
* Obtain consent for health and forensic procedures.
Qualifications
* Qualified Registered Nurse, Midwife, or Paramedic.
* A minimum of 3 years of relevant post‑qualification experience.
* Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
* Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
* Experience of autonomous working.
* Because of the nature of the Sexual Offence Examiner role, applications are invited from females only. This post has a genuine occupational qualification under the Sex Discrimination Act, Section 7(2)b and 7(2)e.
* Additional travel may be required across SARC sites; a UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.
* Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required.
