Join the Parish Lab at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, a team tackling one of the world’s most serious health challenges through antimicrobial drug discovery with a focus on tuberculosis.
We are seeking a Data Entry Specialist to support daily laboratory operations and assist in research projects. The role involves database management, data analysis, and data mining, ensuring accurate reports are produced and disseminated, and maintaining laboratory inventories and supply levels.
Key responsibilities will include:
Data Processing & Management
* Process and upload primary research data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
* Oversee data integrity and implement quality control measures.
* Develop and maintain databases and data management protocols.
* Conduct data analysis according to standardized procedures.
* Assist with data handling using multiple software systems and LIMS.
Reporting and documentation
* Generate data reports for external collaborators, including the use of standardised templates.
* Support submission of progress reports and presentations.
* Maintain staff safety and training records.
Shipping and inventory
* Oversee receipt and registration of shipments and manage compound inventories.
* Coordinate material transfers between internal and external partners.
* Acquire and maintain import/export permits and customs documentation.
* Place, track, and manage laboratory supply orders and inventories.
Operational support
* Maintain costings for equipment repair, maintenance, and replacement; assist with related financial tracking.
* Assist in preparing weekly schedules, workplans, and project documentation.
* Track action items, milestones, deliverables, and project risks.
Administrative support
* Assist in preparing and tracking new legal agreements and contracts.
* Support team meetings, including scheduling and distribution of agendas, documents, and minutes.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
* You will have a bachelor’s degree, ideally in Science or equivalent experience
* Experience using databases (e.g., SQL or cloud systems)
* Qualitative and quantitative research skills
* Data visualisation and report writing skills
* Experience in data analysis, data mining, and statistical methods
* Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office programs
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
