Overview
We are looking for a part-time friendly Assistant Duty Manager to manage day-to-day operation of the library, ensuring a high-quality service that is safe, efficient, and enjoyed by users. You will support the Duty Manager by providing the highest standards of customer care and experience, acting as an advocate for the library service and proactively encouraging customers to enjoy a positive experience. As a customer-facing role, your ability to converse at ease with members of the public will be key. You will be passionate about delivering high standards of customer care.

Responsibilities
* Support the Duty Manager in day-to-day library operations to ensure high-quality customer service and safe, efficient services.
* Engage with customers to provide information, assistance, and a positive experience in line with library standards.
* Promote and advocate for library services to encourage community use and enjoyment.
* Deliver excellent customer care in a friendly, professional manner in a busy public-facing environment.
* Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive library environment and model appropriate behavior for staff and volunteers.
Working Arrangements
Timetable
* Week 1: Monday 9:45am–5:00pm; Tuesday 9:45am–6:15pm; Thursday 9:30am–5:00pm.
* Week 2: Monday 9:45am–5:00pm; Tuesday 9:45am–6:15pm; Thursday 9:30am–1:00pm; Saturday 9:15am–12:45pm.
Hybrid Working: Durham County Council operates a hybrid working policy with a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days remote. This is pro-rated for part-time roles and arrangements are at the manager’s discretion; you may also work all contracted hours in the workplace if you prefer.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
* First Aid qualification or willingness to work towards
