We are looking to recruit a Group Indirect Tax Manager who will be part of our outward facing and proactive international tax team. Reporting directly to the Group Head of Treasury & Tax, the Indirect Tax Manager will be responsible for the Group's indirect tax affairs. The successful candidate will need to work well with the existing tax and finance teams and be able to form good working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation. This role demands an individual with solid tax technical skills, an innovative attitude, as well as willingness to "roll your sleeves up" to get the job done. You must also be able to communicate key tax issues to non-tax specialists in plain language, and to devise commercial and practical solutions, working in partnership with finance, legal and commercial colleagues, to ensure that tax risks are managed, tax leakage is minimised and tax compliance obligations are met. Main responsibilities: Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the group's indirect taxes' processes, reporting and related tools, in particular in VAT, Intrastat and Customs regimes such as Inward and Outward Processing Provide oversight for VAT compliance across the group's individual businesses, and support the group's shared service centre teams on indirect tax matters Advise the business units VAT and customs duty matters related to existing and new business areas across Europe and other international operations Evaluate business and corporate strategies for VAT efficiency, participate in decision making and deployment of the strategies Review new legislation and advise on the implications for the group's indirect tax position Maintain existing procedures and processes, and/or implement new processes where necessary, to ensure robust indirect tax compliance and reporting, fully meeting statutory requirements (such as UK's SAO) Ensure staff involved in the end-to-end VAT and customs duties process are properly trained and coached on indirect tax processes and procedures, and are supported in their day-to-day role Proactively seek to manage and reduce risks including VAT/duty leakage Manage junior team members whether on site or remotely Lead and/ or participate to projects related to indirect taxes (e.g. Making Tax Digital, SAP implementation). Monitor renewals of licences and applications for new licences or regimes with Customs/tax authorities or other regulatory bodies Develop professional working relationships with the colleagues across the organisation and external professional advisers Requirements: Relevant professional qualification and at least 5-8 years' post-qualification experience specialising in indirect taxes, in either a Big 4 or mid-tier professional firm, or as part of an in-house tax team. Experience European VAT and Customs regimes especially Inward and Outward Processing Exposure to US indirect tax and HS goods classification and export control of sensitive goods is desirable.
