About the Role

The Training Support Equipment (TSE) Engineer will be responsible for the technical management, maintenance, and support of RCS1S Training Support Equipment (TSE). The role focuses on ensuring the availability, reliability, and lifecycle sustainment of synthetic training systems, including hardware, software, and documentation management. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting training events, conducting planned and unplanned maintenance, and implementing integrated logistics support (ILS) strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Support Equipment Availability & Technical Management

1. Ensure the RCS1S TSE is operational and available for Core Service Training Hours in accordance with the Daily Training Programme (DTP).
2. Provide technical support for Non-Core Service Training Hours as requested by the RCS1S 1B SPV or other stakeholders.
3. Support Training Events outside normal training hours as per the Weekly Training Programme and DTP.
Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) & Maintenance
4. Implement and support ILS strategies for the lifecycle management of TSE.
5. Conduct planned and unplanned maintenance, including diagnosing faults, replacing components, and managing obsolescence issues.
6. Coordinate with supply chain teams to ensure spares availability and reduce system downtime.
Hardware & Software Administration
7. Perform hardware and software maintenance for all RCS1S TSE systems.
8. Manage Synthetic Training Equipment (STE) databases, ensuring proper backup, recovery, and in-service maintenance of synthetic training device data, including maps, radio aids, planning information, and visual databases.
Documentation & Configuration Management
9. Maintain and update TSE documentation, including network diagrams, operational procedures, and configuration logs.
10. Ensure that Technical Publications (Tech Pubs) are updated post-RFTU (Ready for Training Use) when device changes impact technical documentation.
11. Support configuration management processes to track system modifications and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
CIS Support & Service Coordination
12. Work with Babcock’s Helpdesk facility under the CIS contract to resolve Synthetic Training Equipment issues.
13. Troubleshoot and escalate hardware/software faults affecting training operations.
14. Ensure timely response and resolution of reported technical issues.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

15. Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
16. Experience in Training Support Equipment (TSE) maintenance, synthetic training systems, or defence simulation environments.
17. Strong knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting within complex training systems.
18. Familiarity with synthetic training databases, mapping, radio aids, and visual simulation environments.
19. Understanding of ILS principles, maintenance planning, and lifecycle management.
20. Experience with configuration management and maintaining technical documentation (Tech Pubs).
21. Ability to work within secure/regulated environments and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
