£53,607 - £55,620 a year - Full-time

The Team consists of Health and Wellbeing Assessors, Social Workers, Experienced Social Workers, Advanced Social Workers and a Team Manager.

Croydon Council is seeking a resourceful and dynamic manager with strong communication and leadership skills, who will lead the South Disability Team to continue to develop our services to effectively meet our clients’ assessed needs as enshrined in the Care Act 2014, while effectively managing the team’s budget. The candidate must evidence the ability to work in line with the Community Led Support (strength-based support), integrated partnership/working with Health, ICN+ Service and other partners. It will be the Team Manager’s responsibility to lead the team to meet the desired outcomes of our clients and/or jointly with our health colleagues and other stakeholders. We are looking for an inspirational leader to take this work forward and join our management team.

Key Responsibilities:

To be responsible for the operational management of the social workers for a locality based Integrated Care Team. Manage the social workers to work effectively as part of an integrated, skill mixed and multi-disciplinary team with a focus on Community Led Support, proactive and preventative services to residents, carers and communities in Croydon.

To work closely with the Service Manager, council colleagues and other external professionals to provide information and deliver social care to residents. In particular to support embedding cultural and behavioural changes which ensure holistic and positive outcomes for residents and that appropriate services are delivered at the right time, place to the right people.

To be responsible for overseeing the professional standards of the social workers within the locality based team, managing risk & performance, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and statutory guidance, including the transformation agendas for health and social care.

Contribute to strategic development of the service. Work with others across social care, integrated care networks, the hospital teams, voluntary and community sector and other agencies to develop services, share best practice and ensure consistency of approach.

Develop effective quality assurance, demand and workload management systems which reflect the work of the teams.

To manage the locality residents and staffing budget with the support of the accountant and senior management.

Having responsibility for own health and safety and that of the staff, residents and communities.

Applicants will demonstrate exceptionally strong social work practice skills and sound knowledge of key legislation and aspirations to extend their practice experience and skills. Candidates at this level will be expected to show evidence of completion of relevant post-qualification award(s), as well as capacity to take on some leadership and supervisory responsibilities around safeguarding triaging. Appointed applicants will share in supporting their manager’s leadership of the team to deliver progressive services and promote and maintain high standards of practice.
