Waddington Europe has a vacancy for Operators in Thermoforming Department to work for Waddington Europe - Bridgwater site. It doesn’t matter if you’ve no previous operator experience because we offer a full training programme. All we ask for is a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Based at the Bridgwater site, you will be responsible for the operation of allocated machines, ensuring product quality meets the required standards and working within the company’s accredited standards and health and safety requirements. You may be required to participate in new staff training as needed.
This role is available on a variety of shift patterns: 3 shift rotational pattern, 2 shift rotation pattern or fixed nights.
Responsibilities
* Operate allocated thermoforming machines and ensure product quality meets required standards
* Load machines with the appropriate material and maintain production to the required cycle speeds
* Understand and carry out all procedures, tests and checks (manual and visual)
* Ensure goods leaving the department are appropriately labelled, fit for purpose, properly documented and secured
* Adhere to approved break times and maintain adequate cover on the production floor
* Be present at your appointed machine at the start and end of the shift
* Assist with training of less experienced staff and provide guidance when possible
* Undergo additional training as required to perform duties safely and effectively
* Report defects or problems with equipment or premises to the Shift Manager/Production Manager or maintenance personnel
* Wear the correct PPE at all times and maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards (e.g., BRC)
* Report accidents or near-misses as per company procedure
* Do not damage company property and provide cover on machines as needed
* Co-operate with management to carry out work safely and without risk
* Comply with all policies to ensure a safe and healthy working environment
* Abide by environmental and quality management procedures
* Carry out reasonable duties as requested by management within your abilities
Shift Patterns
* 3 shift pattern: 10pm–6am Sunday–Thursday, 6am–2pm Monday to Friday, then 2pm–10pm Monday to Friday (7.5 hours per day, full time)
* 2 shift pattern: 2pm–10pm Monday–Friday, 7.5 hours per day, full time
* Fixed nights: 10pm–6am Sunday–Thursday
What We Need From You
* Ensure each machine is loaded with the appropriate material
* Operate the machine correctly and pack product at appropriate cycle speeds
* Understand procedures and carry out all tests/checks (manual and visual)
* Label and document goods correctly, ensuring they are fit for purpose
* Follow approved break times and ensure adequate coverage on the floor
* Be present at the machine at start and end of shift
* Assist with training and support others as needed
* Complete additional training to perform duties safely and effectively
* Report defects or problems with equipment or premises to the appropriate manager
* Wear PPE and maintain hygiene standards
* Report accidents or near misses as per procedure
* Adhere to safety and environmental requirements
* Carry out duties as requested by Shift/Production Manager within your abilities
