Overview
FEMALE SUPPORT WORKER REQUIRED. We are looking for an experienced Support Worker/Personal Assistant, with experience working with children/young adults with ASD, to support a 17 year old young lady to access arts and crafts and social opportunities for 8 hours per week.
Responsibilities
* Support a 17 year old young lady to access arts and crafts and social opportunities for 8 hours per week, with hours mutually agreed and occasional weekend hours; could be day and up to 3-4 hours to support her to access and engage in fun social opportunities.
* Support mobility needs; she uses a wheelchair sometimes and may require assistance to participate in activities.
* Follow clear and calm strategies to motivate her when she does not want to do something, particularly if she sits on the floor and refuses to move.
* Transport to social activities using your own car with a clean driving licence and appropriate insurance.
* Communicate clearly with mum, who has a hearing impairment, to manage situations well and ensure clear communication.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience as a Support Worker/Personal Assistant, with experience working with children/young adults with ASD.
* Clean driving licence and use of your own car with the correct insurance.
* Good communication skills to support a family with hearing impairment.
* Availability for 8 hours per week with potential occasional weekend hours.
* Role subject to an enhanced DBS check (provided) and start as soon as a clear check is received.
* Salary: £13 per hour. 4 weeks paid holiday (pro rata) plus bank holidays, and access to a workplace pension.
