Job Summary
Part-time, 22.5 hours per week. Permanent. Band 4.
The role is for a motivated and compassionate Community Support Worker, supporting adults living with severe mental illness to regain stability, independence and improved quality of life. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team and be part of the Cheltenham Recovery Team.
Responsibilities
* Provide care coordination for an allocated caseload of service users, ensuring needs are assessed, reviewed and met through personalised care plans.
* Deliver goal‑focused, recovery‑oriented interventions to support individuals in developing confidence, coping strategies and independence.
* Facilitate and contribute to group work and therapeutic clinics, enabling service users to engage in structured activities that promote wellbeing.
* Collaborate with internal team members and external partners to provide coordinated, person‑centred care.
* Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
* Participate in multidisciplinary discussions, risk assessments, care planning and holistic treatment approaches.
* Share knowledge, experience and skills with colleagues, students and new staff, supporting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
* Advocate for service‑user rights, empowerment and dignity in all aspects of care.
Qualifications, Training & Experience Requirements
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent competency‑based training in a relevant health or social care area, with theoretical and practical knowledge to diploma level. Alternatively, successful completion of approved associate practitioner training or a relevant foundation degree, or commitment to obtain within 2 years.
* IT skills to effectively use electronic care planning systems.
Essential Experience and Knowledge
* Experience in mental health or social care services at Bands 2, 3 or 4, ideally in a community setting.
* Knowledge of the CPA process, care planning and risk assessment.
* Understanding of a recovery‑based approach to care.
* Clinical skills training (awareness of physical health and wellbeing).
Desirable
* Knowledge of the voluntary care sector and partnership working.
