A leading global technology and distribution organisation is seeking a Principal Lead Solution Architect to shape enterprise technology strategy and solution design across their worldwide digital commerce and customer platforms.
This is a senior leadership role, combining hands-on architecture, governance, and people leadership, ensuring the organisation continues to scale, innovate, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
The successful candidate will work across programmes in Digital Commerce, Customer Data, and Value-Added Services, designing modern solutions that power next-generation B2B and e-commerce ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
Programme & Project Leadership
* Lead the architecture of global e-commerce and customer engagement platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and exceptional user experience.
* Shape the design of value-added services, including eProcurement and B2B quotation solutions.
* Integrate customer platforms, data, and services into a cohesive digital ecosystem.
* Align architecture strategy across business and technical teams, promoting best practice and innovation.
Team Leadership & Development
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of solution architects.
* Foster a high-performing, collaborative architecture community.
* Partner closely with engineering teams, business leaders, and technology providers.
Architecture Governance & Strategy
* Chair architecture review boards and approve key design decisions.
* Present enterprise-level issues to governance forums and senior leadership teams.
* Maintain architectural standards, frameworks, and best practices across all domains.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology stakeholders.
* Represent architecture at strategic and programme boards.
* Translate complex technical concepts into clear business impact at executive level.
About You
A strategic and hands-on technology leader who thrives in complex, global environments. You have a proven record of delivering large-scale, customer-facing digital platforms and leading high-performing architecture teams.
Required Experience & Expertise
* Proven experience as a Lead or Principal Solution Architect in a global or enterprise-scale organisation.
* Strong understanding of enterprise architecture patterns (microservices, APIs, event-driven, cloud-native).
* Hands-on knowledge of modern technologies and platforms including:
* Cloud: AWS, Azure
* Customer Platforms: Adobe Commerce, Informatica
* Integration: MuleSoft, Apollo GraphQL, Kong
* Web & Mobile: Node.js, React, responsive design
* Experience with e-commerce and B2B digital platforms, integrating with ERP, CRM, product, and supply chain systems.
* Strong knowledge of security, scalability, maintainability, and monitoring principles.
* Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
