The Opportunity, DL M&E are excited to announce the creation of two new trainee building services estimator positions, one electrical and one mechanical. Our steady and sustained growth, along with our ongoing commitment to training the next generation, means we can now offer these prestigious training opportunities.
The successful candidates will receive one to one mentoring from our experienced senior estimators. No previous experience within the industry is required, though a general knowledge of either electrical or mechanical building services systems would be an advantage. The successful candidates will be well presented, articulate, numerate, literate and display good attention to detail.
This is a rare opportunity to enter the building services industry in an office based training role, leading to a position as a competent and confident estimator, with either electrical or mechanical bias. Experienced building services estimators occupy a respected position within the office and have a very good earnings potential.
Estimator Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing estimates and tender submissions.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schedules, and specifications
Perform quantity take-offs and compile cost information
Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
Help build detailed cost plans and breakdowns
Maintain pricing databases and records of historical costs
Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits where necessary
Requirements:
Strong interest inbuilding services and estimating
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Comfortable working with numbers and data
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other estimating tools (training provided)
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Some industry experience (e.g. internship, apprenticeship, or placement) is a plus
