Description
Could you be the person to guide young people to a brighter future?
For those with SEN and SEMH needs, engaging with the outside world can feel overwhelming. Whether it’s a challenge to engage with education, gain work experience or even get out and about in the community, our young people have faced barriers that leave them feeling discouraged and disconnected from society. Every young person deserves someone who won't give up on them - could that be you?
At Fresh Start in Education, we’re looking for proactive, person-centred individuals to deliver 1:1 sessions that build confidence and inspire hope. From developing everyday life skills like budgeting, to exploring work experience or completing Functional Skills and ASDAN courses, you’ll support learners to take meaningful steps forward – one relationship at a time.
What you’ll be doing:
* Providing 1:1 support to young people in their homes or a suitable public setting, in the Felixstowe area
* Planning and delivering personalised, creative sessions that reflect each learner’s needs, interests and abilities
* Monitoring and reporting on student progress after each session and setting clear, achievable targets to support ongoing development
* Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
* Working flexibly (on a bank staff contract) and term-time only, with sessions typically lasting 3 to 5 hours during the school day
Who we’re looking for:
We welcome applications from individuals who have:
* Experience (at least 1 year) supporting young people with SEN and SEMH needs, including anxiety and experience of trauma
* A background in Secondary, Functional Skills, employability, mentoring, ASDAN or specialist SEND environments
* De-escalation and behaviour management skills
* A minimum of 2 consistent weekdays available
* An up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
What you can expect from Fresh Start in Education:
* £25–£35 per hour, depending on experience
* Travel subsidy and £15 per session resource allowance
* Free access to counselling and wellbeing services, pension options and store discounts
* Dedicated line manager, support and inclusion in a supportive, expert team
* Bank staff role (PAYE), offering both short-term and long-term placements
