This is a hands‑on role where you’ll play a vital part in ensuring our school buildings, equipment, and grounds are safe, functional, and well‑maintained for our pupils and staff. With a specialist trade background (such as plumbing, joinery, electrical work, or decorating), you’ll take ownership of your area of competence while also supporting the wider maintenance team. From planned and reactive repairs to compliance checks and liaising with contractors, you’ll help us keep our facilities operating to the highest possible standard.


Responsibilities

* Take professional ownership of your specialist trade/area of competence.
* Support the maintenance team with both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
* Carry out repairs and ensure the schools buildings, equipment, plant, and grounds are maintained to a high standard.
* Conduct weekly site walks to identify and address Health & Safety issues.
* Advise colleagues on machinery, equipment safety, and purchasing requirements.
* Liaise with contractors for specialist work beyond general maintenance scope.
* Contribute to risk assessments and ensure compliance with COSHH regulations.
* Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
* Keep accurate, up‑to‑date maintenance and compliance records.
* Participate in the on‑call rota and support emergency response when needed.
* Travel across the site or to suppliers as required.


Qualifications

* Proven experience in facilities management or a relevant trade.
* Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance regulations.
* Ability to work independently while also being a supportive team player.
* Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
* Flexibility to respond quickly to urgent maintenance needs.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
