Heritage Consultant
Location: Bourne End, Buckinghamshire

Role Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Heritage Consultant to provide expert advice on heritage and archaeological matters. Working alongside planners, developers, architects and local authorities, you will help deliver successful outcomes for a range of development projects, ensuring they align with heritage legislation, planning policy and best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialist advice on heritage and archaeology matters to clients and colleagues
Prepare Heritage Statements, Archaeological Desk-Based Assessments, Impact Assessments and other supporting documents
Assess the significance of historic buildings, sites and landscapes, and advise on preserving or enhancing their value
Liaise with local planning authorities, Historic England and other stakeholders
Conduct site visits and appraisals to assess development impact on heritage assets
Advise on conservation approaches, materials and repair methods
Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policy and best practice
Guide clients through the planning process, including pre-application advice and post-consent support
Delegate work effectively to junior staff and contribute to their development
Actively seek and secure new instructions through business development and networking
Attend industry events and deliver CPD sessions to promote services
Contribute to marketing activity, including LinkedIn content
Maintain accurate time records and fee forecastsKey Skills and Experience:
Degree in Archaeology, Architecture, Planning or a related field
Experience in a heritage or planning consultancy role
Understanding of UK heritage legislation and policy, including the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and NPPF
Experience preparing heritage assessments and planning documents
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Analytical and detail-oriented approach
Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively
Membership of CIfA or IHBC is desirable
Experience preparing appeal statements and representing clients at hearings is a plusWhy Apply?
