HR Business Partner
Location: Congleton (with occasional travel to Essex)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to provide high quality, generalist HR support across our Cheshire East Highways and Corporate Services teams. Based in Congleton, this role involves occasional travel to Essex and offers the opportunity to make a real impact by partnering with leaders to drive engagement, guide organisational change, and support the delivery of strategic people objectives.
Reporting to the Head of HR, you will work closely with stakeholders across two key business areas to deliver a comprehensive HR service that supports both operational needs and strategic ambitions. You will advise on employee relations, support managers in developing their people capabilities, contribute to HR policy development, and ensure compliance with employment legislation and company standards.
The Role
* Act as a trusted advisor to Contract Directors, Corporate Leads, and senior leadership teams.
* Attend management meetings and contribute to initiatives that improve engagement, satisfaction, and wellbeing.
* Use HR data and reporting to inform decision making and support action planning.
* Provide guidance and hands on support with employee relations cases including performance, grievance, and disciplinary matters.
* Design and deliver people management training for managers.
* Support organisational change processes through effective consultation.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of HR strategic objectives across the business.
* Collaborate on improvements to HR policies, processes, and Fairness, Inclusion and Respect initiatives.
* Build strong working relationships across departments to support a positive culture.
* Promote consistent, best practice HR approaches across all business areas.
About You
* CIPD Level 3 qualification.
* Up to date and thorough knowledge of UK Employment Law and its practical application.
* Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, including mail merge, VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
* Experience using HR systems.
* Strong understanding of data protection and confidentiality requirements.
* Excellent communication skills across all formats.
* Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Experience working in a complex organisation.
* Ability to establish credibility quickly and build effective working relationships.
* High attention to detail with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
