Job Description
The Director of Commercial Growth and Strategy will report to the Managing Director and manage 9 managers. This full-time role involves providing commercial leadership across sales, purchasing, category management, and retail operations. The successful candidate will develop and execute a company-wide commercial strategy, build high-performing teams, and drive growth across product categories and customer segments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Strategy & Business Growth: Develop and lead the company's commercial strategy, identify new business opportunities, lead planning cycles, and drive sales performance.
2. Retail, Inventory & Category Oversight: Oversee category managers, retail, and inventory teams to optimise performance, stock, and margins.
3. Cross-functional Alignment: Collaborate with marketing, operations, finance, and HR to meet commercial objectives, provide market insights, and develop reports.
4. Reporting & Commercial Governance: Manage sales forecasting, budgeting, and reporting; ensure alignment with business goals; monitor KPIs and risks.
Measures of Success
* Revenue and margin growth, customer retention, stock availability, sales performance, supplier relations, and employee engagement.
Candidate Profile
* Proven senior commercial leadership experience in distribution, trade, or B2B sectors.
* Track record of driving sales and growth, with strong commercial acumen.
* Effective influencing, coaching, and communication skills.
* Understanding of regional markets, retail operations, and technical products.
* Experience with CRM, ERP, and sales analytics tools.
