Job Purpose

* To ensure that enquiries are progressed through the various stages of manufacturing in a timely and efficient/ safe manner to meet agreed client delivery dates.

Main Responsibilities
* Plan, coordinate, and manage daily production activities to meet delivery timelines and quality standards.
* Manage and lead shop floor staff, including assigning tasks, setting performance goals, and conducting performance evaluations.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
* Monitor and maintain inventory of raw materials, tools, and equipment to prevent downtime.
* Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and quality control teams to resolve production issues and implement process improvements.
* Track production metrics (e.g., output, downtime, scrap rates) and report regularly to senior management.
* Oversee maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
* Participate in hiring, training, and development of shop personnel.
* Implement lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
* Manage the manufacturing budget, including input, forecasting, and adherence to STATS financial goals.
Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities
* To comply with STATS and Client quality, safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
* Ensure all accidents / incidents / near misses / hazards are immediately reported and relevant paperwork is completed.

Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge
* Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in a production or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
* Ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
* Understand complex drawings, machining and welding processes.
* Identify and resolve issues related to production, quality and safety.
* Ability to interact with various stakeholders.
* Plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively.
* Analyze production data and identify areas for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONs
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
Personal Qualities
* Hands-on and proactive leadership style.
* Continuous improvement mindset.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
